Part of the fun of working for a great agency is being encouraged to think. Here are some of the things we’re thinking about.

Meet Our Summer Intern: Dana Berry

July 1, 2020 Chloe Coley

We’re fortunate to have Dana joining us at the Bradford Group for the second half of summer! Dana is studying public relations at the University of Alabama and will graduate with both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in May 2021. Take a minute to get to know her, and leave a comment welcoming her to the team!

Where are you from?

I’m from a small town in Ohio named Pataskala, but no one knows where that is, so I tell everyone I’m from Columbus. I attend the University of Alabama.

Where do you attend college and with what degree will you graduate?

Thanks to the Accelerated Masters Program, I will graduate in May of 2021 with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in public relations. I’m also a German minor!

What do you like most about Nashville?

I like how Nashville blends the laid-back aspect of the South with the hustle and bustle you see in large cities. I’ve always wanted to work in a city, but also fell in love with how laid-back the South is in college, so Nashville is the perfect blend!

What do you like most about public relations?

I love how no day is the same. I know that’s what everyone says, but it’s true! I thought I wanted to work in journalism for a while, but I was too intrigued by the uncertainty of PR. It keeps me on my toes, which is exciting.

Do you have any unique hobbies?

I wouldn’t say I have any that are too unique, but I love to run, hike and kayak. Anything that’s outdoorsy!

What are you most looking forward to getting from your internship at the Bradford Group?

I’m excited to get real world experience working at an agency. I’ve never had to juggle multiple clients before, so I’m looking forward to working with clients in different industries, and the Bradford Group has such a diverse set of clientele that I know I’ll be challenged every day.

What three words best describe your personality?

Hard-working, loyal, kind

If you could time travel to the past or future, where would you go and why?

I would go to the Roaring Twenties because so much of what we see today was affected by that time. From prohibition to flappers to “The Great Gatsby,” this era was significant and exciting! People were gutsy, and women started stepping out, becoming more independent. I’d love to just spend a weekend in the ‘20s.

What’s your favorite piece of literature and why?

My favorite book has always been and will always be “Pride and Prejudice.” I read it my junior year of high school, and I’ve bought at least six or seven different copies of it since then. I’m obsessed!

Where’s your favorite place to eat in Nashville?

The only place I’ve eaten from so far has been the Mockingbird. It was delicious! I’m eager to try some different places while I’m here, though.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

My indecisiveness stemmed from my childhood, so I was all over the place back then! My mom’s a teacher, so I wanted to be that for a while. I also thought it would be fun to be a detective like Veronica Mars or to own an inn like in Gilmore Girls, but nothing stuck for too long!

What’s one thing on your bucket list you want to accomplish in your lifetime?

I’ve always wanted to go to Italy. Obviously that can’t happen anytime soon, but I’d love to see Rome, Venice, Florence, Milan. The architecture, charm and vineyards (wine) have been calling my name for ages!
