Part of the fun of working for a great agency is being encouraged to think. Here are some of the things we’re thinking about.

Meet Our Summer Intern: Kathryn Platt

June 4, 2020 Chloe Coley

A new season means new interns in the office! We are excited to welcome Kathryn, a rising senior at the University of Alabama, as one of our summer interns. After just a few days on the job, she’s already proving to be a great addition to our team. We asked her a few questions to get to know her a little better. Enjoy!

Where are you from?

I grew up in a small town in New Jersey so I always tell people that is where I am from, but my family moved to Jacksonville, Florida about 2 years ago so I guess I am from there too!

Where do you attend college and with what degree will you graduate?

I am currently a senior at the University of Alabama! I will graduate in May 2021 with a degree in public relations and a minor in computer technologies.

What do you like most about Nashville?

I absolutely love the music scene in this city. It creates such a great vibe everywhere you go.

What do you like most about public relations?

I think what drew me to this profession was that it is constantly changing. I am the type of person who is always looking for new things to do, and in PR nothing stays the same for too long which keeps it interesting!

Do you have any unique hobbies?

I love to sail. My family grew up sailing around different cities on the East Coast, and I completely fell in love with it.

What are you most looking forward to getting from your internship at the Bradford Group?

I am most excited to gain writing experience. Until now I have done a lot of marketing and strategic work, which was more client-facing. I am hoping that this internship will help me strengthen my writing skills for my future career.

What three words best describe your personality?

Ambitious, kind and excited about life. I know I cheated a little… This one was hard!

If you could time travel to the past or future, where would you go and why?

I would like to go back to the 1940s. Even though this was a trying time for the world, there is a certain charm to the time period that embodies class, ambition and togetherness; there has always been a piece of me that wishes I could have been a part of that.

What’s your favorite piece of literature and why?

I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t count for most literary scholars, but my favorite book I have ever read is titled “Feels like Falling” by Kristy Woodson Harvey. It’s a total beach bag romance novel, but I loved it!

Where’s your favorite place to eat in Nashville?

Hmm, I just moved to town, so I’m not really sure yet! I will say that I was here visiting in February and went to brunch at Tavern in Midtown. Maybe it was the two-for-one mimosas, but I have been dying to go back ever since!

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was younger I was convinced I was going to be a lawyer. I wanted to go to Harvard and practice law in Boston… Honestly, I’m pretty sure I just wanted to be Elle Woods! Nonetheless, this was my plan until I got to high school and realized law wasn’t really for me, although I still love “Legally Blonde”!

What’s one thing on your bucket list you want to accomplish in your lifetime?

My dream is to one day visit Greece. My parents visited a while ago and the trip looked so magical, so I have made it a goal to go explore the country at some point!
