Career Skills
Though there are many skills required to be a member of our team, four are absolutely essential:
1. Writing
Every member of the Bradford Group is an accomplished writer. We are all good thinkers who can communicate our thoughts clearly, concisely and in a manner that is interesting enough to hook a reader.
2. Creativity
Creativity is the ability to solve a problem in a way that it hasn’t been solved before. Effective creativity results in a solution that is better than any existing solution. That’s the kind we hire.
3. Managing
Every member of our team is responsible for accomplishing many different tasks within various timeframes. Doing this well requires efficiently managing time and resources to make the most productive use of both.
4. Selling
Clients hire us because we know how to persuade people to do things, such as purchase a product, donate to a cause, join an organization, attend an event or run a news story. It’s called selling. Being good at it requires strong emotional intelligence and an unwillingness to accept defeat.
Core Values
We hire people who share our core values:
- Smart – This is more than raw intelligence, though that certainly helps. It is also being willing to put in the hard work required to be more aware, informed, prepared and knowledgeable than the competition. We agree with Thomas Edison, that genius is “99 percent perspiration and 1 percent inspiration.”
- Results – Do you like making a real difference? Do you get a charge out of accomplishing something? Do you like objective measurements of success? We do.
- Active – Members of our team don’t wait to be told what to do by their clients or their peers. They actively look for what needs to be done, and do it.
