We are deliberate about the kind of culture we want to create and grow at our agency. Here are a few trail markers that guide us:
Everybody here is a little better at something than everybody else. (Hey, we’re human.) We use this to our advantage by frequently collaborating on projects. And we all take personal responsibility for doing our part around here, from keeping our assigned clients happy to emptying the dishwasher.
We are not satisfied with the status quo – in anything: the success of our company, the cohesiveness of our team, the resources we have to serve our clients, our skill levels and knowledge. We invest in the people and the tools needed to grow, including continued training opportunities for every team member.
There are no secrets here. We’re all in this together. Every team member knows how the company is doing financially, what we are doing next and how he or she can be a part of it. In fact, everyone collaborates on setting the company’s goals and direction during quarterly retreats. We then openly track our progress toward goals via software, and we share individual and company news every morning during our morning huddles. We also give praise where it’s due by writing “Kudos” messages to team members for jobs well done that are displayed on our Kudos board for all to see.
While we take our work very seriously, we’re also not afraid to have a little fun around here. Through a variety of company-wide activities, we have created a close-knit community in our office, as well as engaged with the community around us. Some activities include:
- “Brain Breaks” – We put together fun activities, such as playing Taboo or doing a conga line around the office, to get the juices flowing before we continue our day.
- Happy hours – Every Friday at the end of the day, we spend some time chatting and unwinding after a long week. Sometimes they are themed, like Halloween pumpkin carving or learning about Hanukkah.
- Company outings – Each quarter, if our goals are met, we plan an activity to do together, such as TopGolf or an Escape Room.
- Community service – We set aside time each quarter to go out into the community and participate in a service project as a team.
